Get to know itsme. itsme supplies electrotechnical and mechanical products to industrial end users and the manufacturing industry. These include control systems, switchgear, drives, lighting, as well as cables and cable support systems. Beyond that, itsme is also a knowledge partner in the field of industrial automation challenges and logistic processes. It provides clients with independent technical advice and helps to optimise processes. The head office and distribution centre are located in Raamsdonksveer (the Netherlands) and itsme also has offices Belgium, Spain and Romania. 

 

Auditing annual accounts

Since 2007, itsme has been active in Romania under the name ES Elektro Romania. ES Elektro Romania now has two offices, and over thirty employees. Business is going well in the Balkan country. Very well, in fact. That is why itsme is obliged to carry out audits, in both the Netherlands and Romania. Ruud Broer, reporting manager at itsme, explains: "We are bound by law to have our annual accounts audited by an accountant. In order to do this, I work with the accountants from Vermetten Audit, including Suzanne Snoeijs. Every year they audit our annual accounts and issue an auditor's report. We enjoy working together, because our no-nonsense mentality fits in perfectly with the Vermetten mentality. No nonsense, without any hassle."

International network TGS Global

"Since the past two years, our office in Romania has evolved to such magnitude that we’re also required to submit audit reports in Romania. We presented Suzanne with the question of how can we have our Romanian annual accounts audited. She informed us that Vermetten is affiliated with TGS Global, an international network of accountancy firms. This allows Vermetten to assist Dutch organisations in doing business abroad. TGS Global brings organisations into contact with affiliated accountancy firms all over the world." Two accountants from Vermetten | accountants and advisers, namely Rob van den Bosch and Niels van Raak, are closely involved in TGS Global.

Video calls with TGS Romania

Niels: "My colleague Suzanne asked me if I wanted to assist itsme in doing international business. I sat down with Ruud and told him about our affiliation with TGS Global and the advantages it offers. Thanks to our affiliation, we can appeal to all member accountancy firms. These offices are not mere members - each and every one has proven to meet the high requirements placed on quality. As also rings true for the TGS Global office in Romania, TGS Romania. Ruud wanted to meet the accountants of TGS Romania. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, all trips abroad were restricted. So we scheduled a video call."

Feeling connected

Ruud: "In such collaborations, I think it is important that there is a click - on both sides. You work closely together and you put your heart and soul on the table. We are dealing with confidential information, and we are, as it were, exposing ourselves. So it has to feel right and everything needs to be based on trust. This was already the case during the first video call: it felt good and there was a click. We therefore decided to work with the Romanian accountancy firm - assisted by Niels and Vermetten."

Collaboration is going very well

"TGS Romania has carried out two audit assignments for us so far," said Ruud. "In the process, the accountants from TGS Romania worked together with our own controller in Romania. I am involved indirectly and I am only called in if there are ambiguities or when extra guidance is needed. This also applies to Niels: he mainly keeps an eye on the timelines. The collaboration with TGS Romania is very good: the accountants work thoroughly and are very precise. The control assignments are carried out well and they deliver clear reports that meet our requirements. We are currently in the middle of a new audit assignment; it is due to be completed by the end of March. We will soon be video calling the accountants of TGS Romania again and hopefully we will be able to meet them in person in the near future!"
